FAQ

1) I searched the website and did not find what I am looking for?

Please email us at [email protected].  Most of our archive is offline and being processed. We have a large film collection and represent film collectors, independent producers and partner archives around the world.  We will be happy to search for what you are looking for.  We are a full-service agency offering archival research and rights clearances services.

2) How do you charge for footage use?

For rights-managed licensing we charge by the second. The rate is determined by they rights required (type of project, distribution media, territory and term). A royalty free license is a fixed price charged by the clip.

3) What if the difference between rights managed and royalty free licenses?

Rights Managed, or RM, refers to a copyright license which, if purchased by a user, allows the one-time use of the footage as specified by the license. If the user wants to use the footage for other uses an additional license needs to be purchased.

Royalty Free, or RF, is subject to a copyright license, however it may be used without the need to pay royalties or license fees for each use, per each copy or volume sold or some time period of use or sales.

4) How do I order?

For rights managed licenses please select the “Contact Us To Get the Price” button.  In your message please provide the following information: Type of project (advertising, scripted entertainment, documentary, museum exhibit, eduction), distribution media (theatrical, broadcast, internet/streaming, film festival, non-broadcast), territory (world, region, country) and term of use.  We will provide a quote and if agreed, will send an invoice/agreement.  Footage will be delivered via Dropbox.

For royalty free licenses please order the footage through the website.  The footage will either be available for an instant download or sent via Dropbox.

5) How long does it take to receive hi-resolution footage?

In most cases footage can be delivered same day or next business day.  Footage requiring film transfers will sometimes require additional time to process.

6) What formats are available?

We can accomodate most format needs depending on the original source of the material.  Please ask us.

7) What rights come with the footage?

All footage is copyright cleared, either because it is in the Public Domain or because the we represent the copyright owners who have granted us the right to license the footage.  Music, trademarks, logos, talent are generally not cleared.

8) What does “Access Only” mean?

For footage that is under copyright and we have a film or digial master, we offer the footage for a flat fee with no rights given or implied.  Or, we can help clear the footage the from the copyright owner and license it to you.

9) Do you offer discounts?

We are always willing to discuss volume price discounts for bulk orders longer that one minute or ongoing projects.
